Early in 1990 the late Jurisdictional Bishop Milton L. Hall recognized the need for an opportunity for his
predominantly urban membership to receive bible based interaction, reflection and positive nurturing. Bishop Mark H.
Blade contnues to support position action and is fully comitted to providing the youth with direction.
Bishop Blade's vision is greately supported by the Pastors and Women's Supervisor Darlene Bartlett Stone
and the leaders of his jurisdiction. Many Pastors, congregations, Community Faith-Based Initatives, and other
business and local groups sponsor youths to make sure they attend the Church Camp.
The Family Retreat has since grown from about 35 individuals with less than 10 youth and about 25 adult
folks. What began as separate sessions for the youth that attended the Family Retreat has grown to over
100 exponentially to become one of the finest the summer youth camps the Church of God in Christ has too offer.
Many youth from other Faiths now yearly attend and provide leadership or just participate this Youth Camp.
Often many of our graduated youth who are now professionals in many diverse careers return to teach, present, mentor or
speak, inspire, or motivate the campers to what is possible when we focus our hearts and minds upon Christ.
